Chapter 876
At spoint, Marguerite's tears had already begun to fall.
She wiped them away in a hurry, but when she looked up at Violet, her eyes were filled with unwavering resolve.
"Yes. | have to know the truth," she said, her voice steady.
Marguerite couldn't allow herself to stumble blindly through life any longer.
If there was even the faintest news about Frederick, she had to seize it with both hands.
The two women stared at each other-no shouting, no open conflict. Outwardly, everything seemed calm, but
beneath the surface, invisible currents of unease swirled between them.
Violet studied Marguerite for a long tbefore finally taking her gently by the arm and leading her away from
the watchful eyes of the security guards. Making sure no one else could overhear, Violet finally gave in and
revealed the so-called truth. "Marguerite, the photos on Silas's phone-I'm the one who sent them to him." For a
moment, Marguerite was frozen in shock.

She stared at Violet in disbelief, her lips trembling as if she couldn't quite form the words.
"You... what did you just say?"
A tear slid down Violet's cheek as she spoke, her voice tinged with resignation. "Marguerite, you never told me,
but I always knew that Silas cared about you. The way he looked at you, the emotion he poured into every
glance-it was obvious to me."
"He asked if I'd ever met your lover. | said | had. Then he askedfor a photo of Mr. Winston. From that
moment, | realized how much you meant to him."
"But | loved him too. Even though he'd already betrayed our relationship, I still held back my own feelings and
started searching everywhere for a photo of Mr. Winston, just to help him."
“Stupid, right? But for Silas, I'd do anything. So the photo you showedthe one you've been holding onto-I
bought it, paying more hackers than | can even remember."
Violet's heartfelt confession made Marguerite's tears fall even harder, though she couldn't say exactly what she
was crying for.
Was she mourning the fact that she'd misjudged someone? Was she grieving for the pain she had caused Violet
and Silas? Perhaps it was both.
But what she couldn't deny was that most of her tears cfrom having her fragile hope rekindled-only to have
it crushed again, just as quickly.
Violet wiped her own tears away and took a steadying breath.
She forced a faint, sorrowful smile and looked Marguerite in the eyes.
"Marguerite, don't know how deeply Silas cares about you. But to the rest of the world, he and | are still husband
and wife. | don't want him to know about this conversation. It's hard enough pretending to be oblivious in front of
him-and | don't want to lose even that small comfort."
"If the truth comes out, there's no going back for any of us."
Pain stabbed through Marguerite's chest, and her breathing grew unsteady.
The truth was far from satisfying, but she nodded and promised Violet she'd keep it to herself.
Meanwhile, at Steam Dreams Café-
Hayes, with his small backpack slung over his shoulders, had been waiting by the window for quite stime.
He'd arranged to meet his mysterious online friend at ten thirty, but so far, his guest was a no-show.
Hayes had already gathered enough evidence to prove the secretive friend was none other than Margot But he
hadn't revealed this online, because only a face-to-face meeting could force her to reveal herother identity.
He waited anxiously, glancing at his children's watch every few minutes. Could she really be that cautious? Was
she going to bail on him after all?
As his thoughts raced and his nerves frayed, Hayes took a long sip of cola, hoping to calm himself.
Just as he drained the last drop and looked up again, someone slid into the leather seat across from him.
"Not the person you were expecting. Are you disappointed to seeinstead?"
