Chapter 548: Suddenly, I Feel Poor The first thing Nnenna noticed was the ceiling. smooth, white, and painted with gold trim. It didn't match anything she had expected. Her eyes darted around, trying to make sense of the scene.

This... wasn't a warehouse.

She was lying on a large, soft bed pushed against the farthest wall of an enormous room.

The air smelled faintly of sandalwood, clean and warm, not damp and moldy like she had imagined a kidnapper's hideout would. The floor was polished marble, catching the glow from a chandelier overhead. Elegant curtains draped the windows, filtering in slivers of daylight. Whoever had taken them... they had style.

A cold prick in her arm drew her gaze down to the thin tube taped to her skin. An IV bag hung neatly from a stand beside her bed, dripping something clear into her veins. Her pulse kicked up.

She shifted her gaze and saw them, Somto in the middle bed, Arthur on the far side. Both were still, each with their own IV hooked to their hands. No ropes. No chains. Just... sleeping. Or unconscious.

Her throat tightened. She pushed herself up, only for pain to rip through her body like fire. She sucked in a sharp breath, sweat instantly prickling her skin.

Not yet. She couldn't move yet.

Gritting her teeth, she tried again, slower this time, but the pain doubled, stabbing into her ribs, her limbs, everywhere. The duel had already left her battered, and that sonic wave bomb... it had shredded whatever little strength she had left.

She sank back against the pillow, breathing hard, eyes fixed on the ornate ceiling again.

Nothing about this made sense.

"Love System," Nnenna called out weakly in her mind.

"I'm here," the Love System replied, her tone as calm as ever.

"We were almost killed," Nnenna said, her voice edged with irritation. I thought we talked about you warning me, and stepping in, if something like that happened.

"I'm not supposed to tell you the future unless you've been granted permission," she answered smoothly. "You have to learn to sharpen your senses, read the air around you. If you wantto warn you before things happen, it'll cost you, like I said before." "Cost me?" Nnenna frowned.

"Every day of your life, you take risks. If I warn you before every danger, it will cost you every second. You refused this deal before. Would you like to change your answer now?" "No. Leave it like that." The thorough explanation deflated her argument before it could even start.

She huffed. "Fine. But can you at least heal my injuries? I can't even stand up right now." "Your injuries are very serious. It'll cost you 10,000 good points. You currently have 20,800 remaining." "I'll only have 10,800 left? That's too low." She hesitated, mentally calculating. This continent was a good points, sucking machine... but, to be fair, she also earned as much as she spent.

"You can always do half," the Love System offered. "Do you consent?" "Yes, I consent," Nnenna said slowly.

Much better.

"By the way," she added, "how many good points have I earned from my activities recently, including my A's in the exams? I never asked, and you never toldeither." "That totals 10,000," the Love System replied promptly.

A small smile tugged at her lips. "Good to know I haven't been idle," she sighed in relief.

Ding! "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. 5,000 good points deducted!" In less than a minute, Nnenna felt her strength return in a warm rush. She hurriedly got to her feet and glanced at the IV bag hanging beside her bed.

Medicine.

Her eyes narrowed. Shocking. What kind of assassins kidnap people and then start treating them? Regardless, she yanked the IV needle out of her hand and quickly crossed the room to Somto.

"Somto? Wake up." She shook him gently, but he didn't stir.

Her chest tightened. She moved to Arthur's side and tried again. "Arthur, wake up." Nothing. His breathing was steady, but he was still as stone.

"Love System, what's wrong with them?" she asked, panic creeping into her voice.

"They were badly injured in the fight. Even with these treatments, it'll take tfor them to heal and regain consciousness." "Can I speed it up? Do I have enough good points?"

"Not really. Because they're experts in martial arts and body conditioning, their injuries are far more severen compared to yours. It's a surprise they held on that much during the fight but it only made their injuries worse. You don't have enough good points to fully heal them, but you can help them a bit." Nnenna's shoulders slumped. "Suddenly, I feel poor. How much will "helping a bit" cost?" "4,000 each." "Do it," she said without thinking twice.

Ding! "8,000 good points deducted!" A few minutes passed.

Nothing happened.

"Love System, they're still unconscious. That wasn't enough to wake them up? Use more good points. I still have smore left, right? Use— A low sound from Arthur cut her off.

Her head snapped up just in tto е see him sitting upright. His gaze swept across the room with sharp precision, pausing on her for only a few seconds before he calmly removed his IV and swung his legs off the bed.

A faint rustle from the other side made her turn, Somto was awake too. He glanced at the IV bag with mild interest before pulling the needle free. Standing, he crossed over, patted Nnenna's hair with a small smile like this was just another Tuesday, and then moved on.

Arthur was on his feet before his IV line even hit the floor, body language coiled and precise, like a blade ready to strike.
