Chapter 1093

At those words, the woman erupted in fury. Her bloodshot eyes burned with madness as she lunged at them,

ready to attack.

Evadne's heart seized, every muscle tense and poised to act.

But Mr. Murray was quicker. He strode forward, gripping the woman's wrists in an iron hold, pinning her arms

behind her back so she couldn't move-let alone hurt Hamilton.

"Savages! Devils! The whole Abernathy family are monsters-ravenous, heartless monsters!" she shrieked, her

face twisted with hate. She thrashed in Mr. Murray's grasp, voice breaking with rage. "This isn't over! | swear

your grandson will pay in blood! Unless you killright here, I'll make sure he suffers!"

The commotion drew the attention of the estate's security. Two guards rushed over, dragging and wrestling with

the woman until they managed to force her out of the grounds.

"Mr. Frederic, this is serious. We can't just let her go unchecked," Mr. Murray said, his usual gentleness gone,

eyes suddenly sharp and cold. "If she goes public with this, the media will be all over it. The Abernathy Group's

reputation could be ruined overnight! Do you wantto handle it?"

"Handle it?!" Hamilton gasped, clutching his chest as pain knifed through him. His face went white as chalk, his

voice cracked with anguish. "Her family... They've already suffered so much because of me! What more do you

want? Do you wantto drive her to her death?!"

He hadn't even finished when his brow furrowed, and his frail body gave out, slumping to the ground in a

trembling heap.

"Mr. Frederic!" Mr. Murray cried, catching the old man's gaunt frbefore he could hit the floor.

In the chaos, Evadne sprinted over and dropped to one knee beside Hamilton, immediately starting chest

compressions and rescue breaths.

"Ms. Evadne! How did you?" Mr. Murray stared at her in astonishment.

Sweat plastered Evadne's hair to her forehead, but her eyes were steady and fierce. "Murray, helpget him in

my car. I'll drive Granddad to the hospital!"

Thanks to Evadne's sharp driving, they raced through the city and reached the hospital in record time.

Hamilton was treated at once, and the doctors managed to stabilize him. Soon, he was moved out of intensive

care and into a regular room.

Mr. Murray wanted to call Frederic and the others immediately, but Evadne stopped him, her expression

shadowed with worry.

"Let's not call Mr. Frederic just yet," she said softly. "I need to talk to Granddad alone first."

Mr. Murray hesitated, torn. "But Mr. Frederic-if he knew—"

Evadne paused, pressing her lips together. "Then call Mr. Thaddeus instead."

It wasn't that she was desperate to see Thaddeus; far from it. But in this situation, Frederic's presence would

only complicate things, and as for Chad—she trusted him even less.

Mr. Murray nodded solemnly and stepped out to make the call.

Evadne steadied herself and quietly crossed to the bed, sitting beside her

grandfather and gently grasping his withered hand.

"Granddad, how are you feeling? Are you still in pain?"

"Much better now... Ilana, thank you..."

half milton's eyelids flutterede

half-closed, his breathing shallow. "If you hadn't been there, | don'think would've made it."

"Don't say that, Granddad. You'll live to be a hundred, | promise."

Her voice trembled, a bittersweet edge beneath her words. "But... | followed you

today, without telling you. | hope you're not angry at me."

Hamilton's eyes flew open, his fingers tightening around hers. "Ilana... you..."

"I saw and heard everything that happened at the cemetery today," Evadne said quietly, taking a deep breath.

“Granddad, is what Mrs Cooper said true? Was it reallyChad who... caused her daughter's death?"

Hamilton's pupils constricted; he squeezed his eyes shut, as though trying to block out the question.

Evadne's gaze was unflinching. “Granddad, you've already givenmy answer."

The old man remained silent.

"I know what you're afraid of,” she continued gently. "Chad is the Abernathy heir-he's been raised by your side

since he was little. Even if you favor your younger grandson, you'd never want a scandal like that to destroy

Chad's life especially since he was just a teenager at the time."
