Why take it seriously?" "Just anger?" Nate's hand gently gripped her chin, closing the space between them. "Are you sure it's not something you've been holding back, waiting for a chance to say out loud?" Their eyes locked in an unspoken battle. The intensity in Nate's gaze made Corrine feel exposed, as if he could see deep into her soul with nowhere left to hide.

"But that doesn't mean I despise you or think you're weak," Nate said earnestly. "No matter how capable you are you're still a woman-my future wife. Whether as a man or your fiancé, I have the right to protect you. Do you understand?"
