gently. “Jermight've been upset because none of the gifts you brought were picked by you.”

“What's the difference?” Nina asked, still puzzled.

“Which one do you like better—when I pick out your birthday gift myself, or when | ask someone else to get it for

you?” Freya asked.

Nina replied without missing a beat, “The one you pick.”
