Chapter 497
The students’ voices grew louder as they shot contemptuous looks at Yolanda. After arriving at her seat, she
browsed the news on her phone. They would be the ones embarrassed when the results cout later anyway.
Ten minutes later, Clara entered the classroom with a troubled look. Though he could make sure Yolanda would
get expelled eventually, the fact that she had gotten the first place and scored full marks for all subjects was a
huge blow to her as the homeroom teacher and the other students.
Ever since Clara had found out about Yolanda's scores two days ago, she could not understand how Yolanda
could achieve such results. Not only had she not finished middle school, but she also got in through connections
and never studied. It was mind-boggling.
But like it or not, it was tto announce the scores.
"Ms. Bennett, are the results out? Quick, tell us who's first! That piece of trash must have gotten last place,
right?" After a student in the front called out, it triggered laughter throughout the class.
Seven turned to taunt Yolanda, "Just pack up and get out now, you little shit!"
"Even looking at you is a waste of time!"
"Get lost!"
"Quiet down!" Clara intervened after clearing her throat. She knew that the
students were all about to eat their words. "I'll announce the results now.

"Our class did well overall, with over twenty students in the top thirty of the year...
But sscores did decline and need improvement!"
"Ms. Bennett, skip the useless stuff! Just tell us the scores!"
"Yeah, tell us the loser's score first!"
Clara wiped the sweat from her forehead. She knew she had to announce Yolanda's score first either way. The
more smug they were now, the more embarrassed they would be. But she could not say that outright.
She could only force a smile and said, "Everyone, stay calm. The results might surprise you, so brace
yourselves."
"Surprise? What surprise?" The students were puzzled. A surprising result? Surely Yolanda could not have gotten
first place again, right? To them, that seemed impossible.
"Just... try not to be too shocked." Clara cleared her throat again and glanced at Yolanda to hide her
awkwardness. "First place in our grade goes to Yolanda Henderson, who scored perfect marks across all four
subjects."
After the announcement, dead silence fell over the classroom. Five minutes passed before the shocked students
could react. "Ms. Bennett, there must be smistake!"
"How could she possibly get first place again?"
"Perfect scores? That's impossible!" Someone even rushed to grab Yolanda's test papers from the podium to
check. After a thorough inspection, they could only accept that she really had scored perfect marks.
The sstudents who had just told her to get out of the classroom now fell silent.
"Ms. Bennett, maybe the proctors weren't paying attention during the exams!" Sstill could not accept the
results.
"How is that possible?" Clara frowned. "Do you think it's possible how over a dozen teachers got distracted and
the surveillance cameras broke down at the stime?"
That shut everyone up. After finding out that Yolanda got first place this time, Clara's impression of her had
actually improved. Having such a student in her class would help with everything from honors to getting
bonuses.
It was too bad she had offended the board of directors who wanted her gone. Even she could not help Yolanda
with that. "Quiet down, everyone. I'll continue to announce other students’ scores..."
After all scores were announced, everyone's attention was still on Yolanda. Nobody could focus on their own
results. Anyone who had taken First Academy's exam knew how impossible it was to get perfect scores across all
subjects.
She did not even lose points on reading comprehension or essays. What kind of genius could pull that off? And
this genius had been right beside them. Why had they treated her like trash?
Just as the students of Class A were starting to accept the reality, new questions
arose.
"Wait!" Someone seemed to realize something. "None of us knew Yolanda before, right? So why were we so sure
she was a bad student?"
"But she was in juvenile detention!"
"That wasn't because of bad grades..."
They looked at each other, confused about why they had so confidently labeled someone they did not know as
worthless.
"The final artwork showcased at the Art Festival was Yolanda's work! Rachel from Class C stole it and got
probation!"
"| saw Yolanda fight off sdelinquents at the school gate!"
"Even the student council president follows her lead... Andrew's father is a manager at Doxcon Group. Would he
give in so easily if Yolanda wasn't really capable?"
Thinking back, Yolanda had always kept to herself and did not mingle with others. Yet, she had never bullied
anyone or damaged the school's reputation. On the other hand, those rich kids constantly lorded over regular
students and disrupted classes.
Class A was advanced placement, so only excellent students could get in and no rich kids could buy their way
through. But in other classes, bullying by wealthy classmates was common.
Perhaps these students had not noticed, but First Academy was no longer the meritocracy it once was. Any
family with enough influence and money to bribe the board could get their kids in. The ones who did not make it
were simply not from families that were powerful enough.
