Chapter 791

His fingers hovered over the send button, lingering with hesitation for what felt like ages before he finally

decided to scrap the idea.

For six months, he'd managed to fool everyone with his embarrassing charade.

If he were to reveal his true face, he wasn't sure Marguerite would keep his secret.

Silas thought about it as he glanced at the half-torn silicone mask he had removed, the disposable material

making it impossible to reattach to his face.

Left with no choice, he put on a surgical mask, started the engine, and headed towards his daughter's preschool.

He arrived just in time, parking the car and spotting his daughter emerging from the school building, flanked by

two boys.

As he approached, he realized the boys were Marguerite's kids.

They had had a squabble just the day before, and now they were all pally again?

Margot spotted Silas at the entrance, wriggled free from Hayes and Manley, and ran towards him, beaming.

"Daddy, | missed you so much! Did you misstoday?"

Silas scooped his daughter into his arms, affectionately rubbing his forehead against her chubby cheeks.

"Of course, pumpkin."

No sooner had he spoken than Hayes and Manley approached.

The two boys looked up at him with adorable faces, greeting him in unison. "Hi, Uncle!"

Silas nodded slightly, finding the two lads irresistibly cute and wanting to hug them.

Before he could respond, one of the boys, a chubby fellow, began to introduce themselves:

"Uncle, we're Margot's classmates. I'm Manley, and this is Hayes, my big brother."

Silas murmured their names in his mind.

Hayes? Manley?

Why did those names sound so familiar?

But before Silas could ponder further, a familiar tension headache began to build, less intense than before but

noticeable.

Margot immediately noticed her dad's discomfort, her small hand patting his shoulder as she asked, "Daddy, do

you have a headache?"

Silas nodded, frowning.

The little girl looked worried and quickly told Hayes and Manley, "We're going hnow. You guys should head

htoo, bye!"

Then, she whispered to Silas, "Daddy, let's get to the car and take your medicine!"

Rushing back to the car, Margot frantically retrieved a box of painkillers from the glove compartment, popped

two pills out, and hurriedly fed them to her dad after pulling down his mask.

But as she saw his face without the mask, she paused, startled, "Daddy, why did you take off your mask?"

After swallowing the pills, he replied succinctly, "Wearing the mask too long gets stuffy."

"You've been having headaches a lot lately. Maybe you shouldn't leave the medicine in the car, carry it with you."

Silas found it strange.

Just a few days ago, his headaches seemed to be triggered only by Marguerite.

Seeing her would cause unbearable pain, but to his surprise, seeing her kids today also triggered a headache,

albeit not as severe.

What was going on?

Lost in his thoughts, his daughter eagerly helped him put the mask back on.

He snapped back to reality, gently patted her head, and made sure she buckled up before preparing to leave.

What he didn't know was that Hayes had clearly seen Silas's true face when he had momentarily removed his

mask.

Without hesitation, Hayes grabbed Manley's hand and they sprinted towards their SUV.

Panting, Manley asked, "Why the rush?"

Hayes blurted out excitedly, "I just saw Margot's dad take off his mask, and that man's side profile looks exactly

like our dad!"
