Jayden hesitated, then led her into the bedroom and opened the wardrobe.
She watched as he retrieved a marriage certificate. Her surprise was evident. “Whose is this?”
“Ours,” Jayden replied.
Bewildered, Elyse responded, “But we divorced! | handed you the divorce papers!”
A sheepish look crossed Jayden’s face as he admitted, “I never filed them. | tore them up.”
“Why would you do that?” she asked.
Jayden’s voice softened. “You might have wanted a divorce, but | didn’t. | want us to stay together forever.”
Elyse was incensed. “How could you not divorce me? Your behavior was so unreasonable back then!”
