Dominic was taken aback by the intensity of Vespera's passion.

He drew her closer, allowing her to take the lead without hesitation.

Outside, the wind picked up, growing fiercer.

The rustling of the leaves beclouder, and the willow branches whipped violently, as if they might break beneath the gusts.

Inside the car, darkness settled around them as the glass fogged up. A pair of delicate hands pressed against it, sliding gently downward.

The mist rippled, scattering beneath the touch.

In a heartbeat, a large hand covered Vespera's.

Their fingers intertwined.

And the mist dissolved into a fragrant dew...

Midnight had passed.

Vespera lay still, her head resting against Dominic's chest.

"How much longer until the half hour is up?" Dominic's voice drifted from above.

Vespera answered nonchalantly, "20 minutes. We still have ten left." Dominic adjusted her clothes. "We could spend these last ten minutes heading hto sleep." Vespera shook her head. "No, I prefer it here." In the confined darkness, she decided to savor the fleeting joy of being bathed in the light of the brightest moon. But deep down, she knew this moment would becsomething she could never truly hold onto in the future. "So, Vera, you like it in the car, huh?" Dominic murmured, his lips grazing her earlobe. "I've got an RV. When we have time, I'll take you on a trip. We can go anywhere you want." A shiver ran through her, but she quickly shattered his hopeful dream. "You don't have the time. There's too much you still need to do." "But we still have ten minutes, right?" His breath traced along her back, following the curve of her spine until it hovered just above her waist.

In the summer, the sky started to lighten around 4:30 am.

By 5:00 am, Vespera had quietly returned to her parents' house and crept into her room.

She'd told them she was staying over at Rebecca's after a fun night out.

Once safely inside her room, she went straight to the bathroom, rinsing away the remnants of the night. Lying on her bed, her body felt drained and sore.

She'd have to clean the car herself.

At 8:00 am, Vespera woke up.

Having only slept for three hours, dark circles were noticeable under her eyes. Despite her exhaustion, she forced herself out of bed and headed for breakfast.

"Vera, what tdid you get back last night?" Wanda asked as she placed breakfast on the table.

"Past midnight," Vespera answered, though it was more of a rough guess.

She knew Vernon and Wanda would have been in bed by 9:00 pm. Things had shifted over time-they no longer worried about her safety, nor did they stay up waiting for her to return.

"Okay," Wanda replied, peeling an egg for her. "Yesterday, you mentioned you'd be staying hfor a while. Are you coming back for dinner after work today?" Vespera slowed down, taking her twith the cereal.

"Tonight..." She hesitated, thinking it through. "I might have to work overtime."

Wanda's question immediately raised a suspicion in Vespera's mind. She couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to it. Could it be... They'd invited Benjamin over again?

Sure enough, Vespera's suspicions proved correct. After she spokem Wanda's expression shifted, revealing atrace of regret and contemplation. "What about Friday?" she asked. "On Friday, Yasmine invited Becca andto a ball." "Then you'll be free on Saturday, right?" "I have a business trip on Saturday." Wanda's eyes widened in disbelief. She repeated, "So... There's a ball on Friday, and then you're leaving for a business trip on Saturday?"

Vespera barely managed to keep a straight face. "Yes, that's right. You can ask Becca if you don't believe me. Plus, I won't have tnext week either. I'll be in Londarion for a whole week on business." Wanda froze for a moment. With a sigh, she rose to her feet.

Suddenly, something seemed to click in her mind, and she quickly sat back down.

"You're going on the trip with Mr. Reid, aren't you?" Vespera lowered her head, silently taking a bite of her cereal.
