Chapter 1109: "All I need is for you to cover for me." "You're really going through with this?" "Yes." "No matter what I say, you won't reconsider?" "I won't." "Alright then." Alan let out a sigh, accepting the inevitable. He knew how she was. Once her mind was set, nothing could change it.
"I'll keep tabs on Ellis for you. But you'll have to givea heads-up each day-where you're going, what you're planning. Okay?" "Okay." Freya nodded.
She then went on to fill him in on her plans for the next couple of days. When Alan found out she had also custom-ordered engagement rings, he felt a strange jolt of disbelief. Was this skind of mind-reading connection? Even their rings were being designed in the scity.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Mina." Alan's expression changed as something occurred to him.
Freya had just sent over her itinerary. Glancing up, she asked, "What is it?" "Have you thought about something..." "Thought about what?" "What if Ellis is planning to propose too?" Read right at g☐☐no"Then one of us just has to beat the other to it," she replied with an easy shrug. She remembered Ellis joking about proposing. "There's no way it'll happen on the sday." "But what if he's also ordered rings?" Alan finally asked the question that had been bothering him. "Whose ring will you wear-yours, or his?" "I'll wear the one he gives me, and he'll wear the one I give him," Freya said simply, her reasoning flawless.
Alan hadn't expected that answer. It was perfect. He couldn't find a single hole in her logic.
"So, when exactly are you planning to propose?" he asked, hoping to figure out her timeline and give Ellis a head start. "Will you do it immediately once the rings are ready, or do you have a specific day in mind?" "Before the end of May," Freya answered.
Alan gave a thoughtful nod.
It was still May 1st. That meant Ellis had the rest of the month to act. Plenty of tto beat her to it.
"Just letknow once you've decided on the date," Alan said, already plotting how to quietly tip Ellis off. "I'll help you get everything ready." "No need," Freya declined immediately.
Alan was confused. "Why not?" "I know exactly what you're up to," she said, eyeing him knowingly.
"And I'm not giving you the chance to tell Ellis." "You really think I'd do that?" "Yes." "Ouch. That stings."
"No, it doesn't," Freya said seriously. "You're just deflecting because m caught you red-handed." Her words left him stunned. She was spot on.
Still, he wasn't about to give in so I easily. "If I truly wanted to tell Ellis, I could've done it already. I know about the rings, remember?"
"You wouldn't go back on your word," Freya said confidently. She knew himall too well. He was a blabbermouth. As long as she didn't reveal the date As long as s of her proposal, everything would still be under her control.
